Spherical Polishing

When used properly, spindle polishing produces possibly the highest surface irregularity, surface quality, and surface roughness.  Depending on radius and size of the parts, proper blocking size is determined and applied to maximize the quantity per run without compromising the quality.  For large single optics, our facility allows a diameter up to 17″ for polishing.  Lambda’s skillful polishers have mastered the processing of much different material including optical glasses, crystals, and infra-red materials.  Automated spindles are used whenever possible, but many of the processes require proper methodology and hand skill of an experienced optical polishing technician.
