Plate polarizers have unique characteristics with its ultra-durable hard coatings, high damage thresholds, and wide acceptance angles. It is placed on accurate fused silica substrates. Thin film polarizers have easy alignment without angle-tuning. Its transmission and reflection have damage thresholds up to 10 J/cm3. These polarizers transmit P-polarized light while reflecting its S-polarized light.
This type of polarizer is ideal for extra-cavity and intracavity high powered applications. When using for infrared (IR), it requires cautious control on all characteristics of components production. Careful polishing and coating are required for an exceptional extinction ratio, greater wavefront performance, high laser mutilation resistance, and ultra-low loss.
